River Hotel - Čikaga

Great view our room overlooked the Chicago River. Clean and newer furnishings in room. Water bottle station on floor very nice. Stayed 2 nights. This hotel was a great location. Within walking distance to the Magnificant Mile, Millenium Park, Theater District. Great rate, would definitly stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived early(noon) and they had our room waiting for us.When we got to our room,it was completely remodeled.We had a room overlooking the Chicago river.It was PERFECT!!!The location was the best feature of this hotel.The staff at the front desk was so helpful and friendly.We were walking distance to pretty much everything.We had a great weekend at a great hotel with even better service all at an excellent price.We are already planning our next trip there and will,without a doubt,stay at the River Hotel again.

We took a quick weekend getaway in Chicago. The River Hotel was situated perfectly in the city for all our entertainment and dining needs. We had gift certificates to a restaurant that was just across the street. The concerige walked out onto the street with us to make sure that we found it. We had a beautifully appointment room with a king bed. The bathroom was spacious enough to allow two people to get ready at once. We could not hear any noises from other guests in the hall. Also, there are complimentary water bottles near the elevators--very nice when going sightseeing. We will definetly stay here again!

I had a single room which was small but very nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. I do wish that the room had a nicer view. It was perfect for my one night stay but if I was staying longer then a couple of nights I would request a bigger room.

Located right on the river, it was in walking distance of almost every great attraction. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family. Clean, great view of river and very easy check-in/check-out via computer in the entryway. Polite staff.

The hotel is a good one at a convenient location near downtown and the navy pier plus other tourist sights and ofcourse the boating area. However, the rooms I was given, one was half the size of the other even though I paid the same for both. The small one could only fit the bed with no room for moving around. When I requested a change of room they said they couldn't change the assignment for me!

excellent location. the room was not very large or plush, but it was very clean and modern. excellent value.

nice decor, modern furnishings, convenient location. two minor things: the water pressure could have been better for the shower, the coffee for the coffee maker was lousy but there were some nice touches like the refillable water bottles, free wireless. check-in/check-out was strangely minimalistic but the hotel offers electronic check out which I didn't try. I would stay there again.

There is no iron or ironing board in the room; there is a shared ironing iron located in the hallway. Though it pretty petty of them to charge me an additional $35 for late check out.

Asked front desk in person for a cork screw and spoons to be sent to our room. Didn't come for hours, had to call again. Was on hold with the front desk for 10 minutes calling from my room.

I cannot think of a better location for seeing the city - especially on foot. How refreshing to walk out a hotel door in a big city and be able to walk in just a few blocks to major tourist sites: the Chicago River, Millennium Park, Art Institute, House of Blues, etc. And the River Hotel's neighborhood is one of Chicago's most magical - right on Wacker Dr. on the Chicago River. The building, too, is a historic landmark, renovated now in a refined, minimalist style that is geared for business people and convenient for tourists. Service at the front desk was pleasant, and they moved me with no fuss when my first room's thermostat wasn't working, upgrading me to a river view. A perfect hotel for a visit to Chicago. Did I mention the good Italian restaurant on the ground floor?

Our recent stay at The River Hotel started off wonderfully due mostly to the very central location of the hotel between Michigan Ave and Wabash along the river. However we quickly realized that our air conditioning wasn't working. I called the desk three times to report this. They did send up an engineer who confirmed that our unit wasn't working and then disappeared without fixing anything and we never saw him again. It made for a very uncomfortable stay, as our room was 80 degrees with no fresh air the entire time. Upon checkout the lady took off one night's charge for valet in order to try to mitigate my disappointment. I would have rather paid the second night of valet and been more comfortable for the weekend. The service was all very friendly but not terribly helpful. We checked in with many bags (we were attending a wedding in the city) and were not offered help from the valets or the front desk with carrying the bags or offering a trolly to push them to our room. The price and location were outstanding, but next time I will pay more and stay somewhere more accomodating.

We had a question about handicapped accessible parking for our wheelchair van and it was very difficult to get someone on the phone who knew anything about parking. They sent our call to New York, and put us on hold several times. We kept having to call back, and this simple question took about 45 minutes to get answered. Very frustrating. When we got home, we had a question about our bill and again had trouble getting through to any one.

We stayed at the River Hotel over the 4th of July weekend. The service was very professional and the rooms seemed recently renovated. Very nice wood accents and modern furniture with a great bed and stylish bathroom. The window looked out over an alley, but we weren't there to look out the window anyway. I'd stay at the River Hotel again and have already recommended it to others traveling to Chicago on business or vacation.

Room was smaller than expected. Hotel Location was very good.

The cons: Narrow halls, small rooms, couldn't get a pot of coffee from room service, no ice on our floor, no tub (if you're a bath person), its hard for a lady to shave her legs in the shower, not enough towels in the room The pros: Very clean and nicely decorated room and bath, great shower (in spite of above comments), hotel restaurant is great, close to all of the action, bottled water available next to elevator, fast service when we asked for something, decent value for the price I asked for a room with a view because we we celebrating an anniversary, so hotel left a nice bottle of wine in the room. I also asked for a refrigerator, which they brought to the room and didn't charge me for it. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. If you're a bit foo foo, then you might not like this place, because of the small(ish) room.

The River Hotel was far better than we had expected. The rooms were brand new and modern. We had a great view, but even if you don't it is still great. It is in a perfect location... parking close by, and right on the river as well as close to everything.

Terrific view on the Chicago river. Room amenities were new and very nice. Hotel staff were all very helpful and nice. I'd definitely stay here again if I can get a river view again. (The back view looked like it would be not so nice.) Also, great location with easy access to public transport or easy walk to Magnificent Mile and Millenium Park/Art Institute.

I chose the River Hotel on the spur of moment. The price was great for the Chicago location. It is close to shopping, eating, and entertainment. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The only down side for this hotel is the sign. I drove pass it twice. Also, the parking isn't really specified, so I parked around the corner ($44). I found out later there is valet parking for the hotel ($24). Overall, I had a great experience.

I lived in Chicago (Wrigleyville and Lincoln Square) for more than 40 years and this hotel has a great location (close to the el), close to Michigan Avenue and State Street, close to Grant Park, and easy for me to get to Lincoln Park so I could get my hair done. Terrific.

but it doesn't end there. Newly refurbished, boutiquey touches to bath and bedrooms to this older hotel that boasts beautiful detail in the marble and brass lobby with the Riverfront, Navy Pier and Magnificent Mile all within walking distance.

Wonderful room very well equiped and contemprary. Very much like a Euro style hotel in a very convenient location. The attached Italian eatery was very good and inexpensive I ate there twice al fresco

Stayed a Saturday night, studio room with a kitchenette. It was a good price, very convenient. (near el stops and around the corner from the Chicago Theater, where the show we were going to was) Room was on the smaller side but very comfortable for the two of us! Attractive design and very clean. Only disappointment was the little fridge didn't get very cold. Overall very good! I will definitely come back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River Hotel. It was within walking distance to all of our points of interest. We enjoyed the fact that the hotel was small and very quiet.

Nice hotel, nice suite rooms, good location. My complaints: Check-in was pretty slow. Why are the ice machines (with the ridiculous fitness room) deep in the bowels of the hotel, and why does only 1 of 4 elevators go there, and why are there no signs to explain that, and why does it take so long to pull off a round trip to get ice? That's really poorly thought out.

Great historical building newly renovated with modern rooms. Great location to all shopping and restaurants in Chicago.

The River Hotel is newly renovated. It was formerly Club Quarters. The rates were much less than surrounding Hotels in Downtown Chicago. Very clean. Very quiet. Had a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. Bed extremely comfortable. Good location to bus lines. Great Italian restaurant in the hotel with reasonable prices. I stayed there for 1 week, and did not receive clean towels during my stay, but maybe that is because I hang my towels up neatly and do not leave them on the floor. I have no complaints. Would recommend it to anyone. My room had a queen size bed and a large comfortable chair that would make out into a twin bed. Would be great for single guest or a small family with 1 child.

The room was nice and clean. ANd that is the only thing nice I can say about my stay at the River Hotel. There was no blanket on the bed. There was coffee, but no coffee condiments. The room did not include a room service menu or attraction book. We were stuck in the elevator for a short time (5 minutes) and when we hit the "call" button, it did not work. Imagine the panic that can come from being stuck on the elevator, it was treeifying. The door finally opened on it's own so I decided to leave the elevator and take the stairs. When we got to the lobby, the clerk wanted to know why we took the stairs, when we explained, he said "Oh, yeah we got some calls but couldnt hear you" Later when we returned to the hotel, I tried to take the stairs as I was too spooked to get back on the elevator and was denied access to the stairs. Terrible experience. Would not recommend.

The River Hotel is located across the river from the new Trump Tower. Is close to everything. The rooms are completly redone and are beautiful. Two single beds - I would have preferred a queen size. Comforters are black and silky smooth. Only problem with them is they slide off the bed during the night if you are a toss and turner. New work desk and chair - very comfortable. The hotel is simple and very nice. I was very happy with it overall. Paid for parking one block away. It was $22 per day with the hotel discount.

Conceirge service was unbelieveable. Quality and cleanliness of the hotel superb.

We had a great time in the city and at the hotel. Everything was in walking distance. The only problems was the sign of the hotel is very small and we missed it many time. I did not like the idea paying to park our car. It will cost 22 dollar for a one day stay. The room was great. We did not want to leave out. It was a great get a way for my husband and I. There was time for us to enjoy each other and all the stores were a plus as well.
