Piccolo Palio Hotel - Siena

This is the second time I have stayed here and once again I found the staff friendly, the room and bed confortable and the location excellent. I look forward to my next visit.

The Hotel is basic and a good price for Siena however, one should be prepared that the rooms ( especially upper floor ) will be extremely hot, even at night as the Tuscan sun is strong and it's generally hot everywhere. There is no Air conditioning but it seems that anywhere in Tuscany in August, the AC is weak, at best. The location of the hotel is 2 bus stops from the train station ( up hill ) but then is a nice scenic walk through town with lots of activity. This hotel might not suit older guests or people expecting luxury. We requested a coller room and the front desk found us a more comfortable room after the first night. This is an ideal place for younger or active types who enjoy the experience and not the Hotel experience. If it was Spring or Summer, I'd recommend the hotel but in August, many Americans might not adjust to what we have come to take as standard. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is a great location, only 10 minutes walk from the main Square and the Duomo (turn left out of the hotel and then left again and keep walking straight). Breakfast is served until about 11am which is nice if you fancy a bit of a lie-in one morning. There was a good selection of cereal, yogurts, crossiants, juice and an expresso maker. Our room was on the ground floor and despite a fan it was very hot at night and a little uncomfortable trying to sleep in such heat. However, if you went at a cooler time of the year perhaps this would not apply.

Good location, the room is clean and the facilities are very good. The reception is really nice. Everything is good, except the noise from the street.

This hotel is not luxurious, but it's location is convenient, and the price is right.

The location of the hotel was perfect, and for the price you can't beat it. Breakfast was good and the overall condition of the hotel was fine. I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

i visited in november, the town was beautiful and quiet. the hotel was a major disappointment however. the room was very cold and had a curious smell. the bed was uncomfortable and fitted with very poor furnishings.

The location of this hotel is outstanding. Parking is a little of a hassle but could be found. The room was a little damp and very small, but alright considering the price.

When we booked this hotel we had read some of the other reviews, but I have to say, it was worse then we were expecting. This hotel is in desperate need of upgrading, the room was tired, dark and depressing. We found that they only way we could bare to return to out room was after a few cocktails, which seemed to numb the pain! We stayed for one night, whilst it was reasonably priced and offered a good location, it is very tired, worn and the carpets have certainly seen better days. The staff however were very helpful, the best out of all the hotels we stayed during our trip.

Go to this hotel for the wonderful staff and great location! We had asked for a recommendation for a clean, basic,safe hotel, so we knew we would have a tiny room. But we would go back anytime because the staff was not only helpful, bur friendly and went out of their way to make first-time travellers who spoke no Italian understand what to do and feel "at home." We were there between the Palio races and that contrada won, so there was a lot of noise celebrating at night, but that also meant that we were right in the historic part of Siena. (The staff can also book a Tuscan cooking class-it was the single most fun thing we did and delicious!)

Overall it´s not a bad choice for restricted budgets, although some improvements could be made. However, the most important drawback for me is the shower-toilette all-in-one space. There is no physical distinction between the shower (no plate or bath tube) and the toilette area, so any time you shower, the bathroom is flooded. Furniture is quite old and cheap, but it´s not uncomfortable. In general is pretty clean, but you should keep in mind the shower aspect. Lastly, about the noise: my room faced a square, so it was not really noisy. If your room is on the road side, it might be noiser, specially because the buses that stop in front.

Great for the cost, very nice people working there- gave great suggestions for restaurants, etc.

L'accueil constitue le gros avantage de cet hôtel, le personnel y est très aimable et souriant. De plus l'emplacement de l'hôtel est très intéressant, proche du centre et de l'arrivée des cars. Cependant les chambres sont une assez grosse déception, pas franchement en bon état et peu entretenues, et la salle de bain peu pratique et vétuste. On apprécie la vue sur la petite place siennoise. Un rapport qualité prix tout de même assez acceptable quand on voit la chèreté de l'hébergement à Sienne. Un point de chute pas mal si l on est peu regardant sur l'état et si on fait un séjour court.

Dopo aver letto le altre recensioni ero rimasto un pochino intimorito. Invece devo dire di aver trovato una buona struttura, accogliente e pulita. Un po' scomoda la doccia, la stanza invece era spaziosa e confortevole. Anche la cortesia e la disponibilità del personale mi hanno piacevolmente soddisfatto.

albergo in centro ma molto precario ,vecchio e mal tenuto , va bene per trascorre una notte di passaggio a Siena.

Vi synes, at hotelværelset var lidt uhumsk. Dette gjaldt dog mest badeværelset. Badeforhænget lugtede grimt, og badeværelset var utiltrækkende. Svært at rykke ud i toilettet. Selve værelset var bedre, men gammel stil, og man sank helt ned på den ene madras. Ingen air condition, kun en fane. Vores oplevelse dog nok ekstra farvet af, at vi lige havde boet på et nyt, moderne og lækkert hotelværelse i Firenze.

L'albergo si trova vicino al centro, in un luogo tranquillo e facile da raggiungere coi mezzi pubblici. La personale era disponibile e simpatica; la struttura sufficiente. Magari una ristrutturazione servirebbe, sopratutto nelle parte pubbliche che ormai sembrano vecchie e poco curate, ma la camera ed il bagno erano abbastanza comodi, puliti e insomma più che accettabile visto il prezzo molto conveniente. Tornerei volontieri per un viaggio breve o una vacanza low cost.

Comodo perchè a due passi da piazza del campo, ma il confort delle camere non è proporzionale alle richieste economiche...ottima la colazione! :-)

The Hotel is old and some places very worn down the carpets could need a replacement but besides the unmatching furniture everywhere the hotel is very well functional rooms are cleaned every day bed is comfortable sheets are clean towels are clean bathroom is arranged differently from international hotels but not uncommon for old southern European housing schauer works fine This is not a luxury Hotel but at this price you can not really ask for more and if you are just interested in a place to sleep at a low cost this is in our opinion a fine little Hotel Breakfast was in our case served in the small room in the basement on the picture breakfast was fine not uncommon for Italian Hotels All in all if you want international standard and continental breakfast choose a Hotel with the same look anywhere in the world This is for those who do not want to pay extra for furnishing but just want to sleep in a nice bed

L'hotel, a prima vista, non è male (buono per dormire e non altro). Camera matrimoniale piccolissima, phone simile ad un aspirapolvere (inngestibile)... asciugamano sporco, bidè e water scomodissimi, doccia senza piatto. La colazione servita la bar è caratteristica. E' un due stelle ma.... se le merita per un pelo.
