Residence San Niccolo' - Florence

The apartment building was good but let down by a few iritating points. it was nicely appointed and the air con worked well (and quiet) but needs double glazing as the emergency services sirons became very annoying. reception is only maned monday to friday 9am - 6pm and where there is very helpful. Outside these hours you have to contact the housekeeper who is an unsmilling chap. So pressing the receiption button for hours on end will have no effect, which is great when you are tired after a had day.

Florence is a walking city so we didnt have a problem with the 15-20 minute scenic walk to the city center. This was really more like an apartment with a kitchenette, two bedrooms and a private roof deck. It was very private and they lock the doors at 10pm so you need your key to go through the main doors. For my husband and I, this place was not necessarily what we needed but I could imagine cominung here with our children.

This hotel is quite old. This hotel needs renovation and new furniture. It is by the river, so it is quite at night. The location is good, because it is about a 15-20 minutes walk to most tourist places. The service is great and the housekeeper is very friendly. For the price, you do get a lot of space and a fully equipped kitchen. Shower is very small.

Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean room, functioning and unintrusive air-conditioning. Reasonable breakfast. Overall great.

The Residence San Niccolo was an great choice for us ( adult and two children). It was on the edge of the city centre area not far from the Piazza San Croce. City buses passed outside and a service ran from a terminus stop directly outside, straight up to the Piazza Del Signoria and the Palazzo Vecchio. The accomodation we used (apt 10) has two large rooms, a twin bed room and a lounge with the kitchenette. My only warning for this particular room is that the shower cubicle is small, anyone of above average girth would have problems!

At first it may seem a bit strange the way things are run there but bare through checking in and its smooth sailing from there. The rooms are large and comfortable as well as clean and since it's more like an apartment you get the feeling of being home almost. Location is also not bad. Overall nice and would probably stay there again...plus it offered a good price per night if you are on a budget.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Residence San Niccolo. The location is perfect. It is right on the river and there are several main bus stops very near by. It is not right in the center of the main attractions but it is a short walk or bus ride to get to them. Santa Croce piazza is about a 5-10 minute walk and the Duomo is only 20 minutes away. I prefer to be out of the hustle-bustle. I was traveling with 3 other girls and we stayed in room 5. Our room had two separate bedrooms, one bath, and a kitchen. The beds were huge (a large king) and very comfortable. The hotel didn't have a traditional breakfast area set up but provided an assortment of pasteries and toast. Very portable! They don't have a person at the front desk 24-hours but we didn't find that was necessary. When we did ask them questions regarding which bus to take, they were very helpful. I would definitely stay in this hotel again, especailly if you are staying in Florence more than a few days. It is nice to have a fridge!

Fornitures a bit outdated, breakfast a bit limited but extremely clean and good service

Residence San Niccolo is an apartment style hotel close to Santa Croce and a ten minute walk from both the historic center and a good grocery store. There is no 24 hour desk, but a staff member lives on site and is available in the case of an emergency. Excellent and personalized service.

Make sure you know what bus # to take to get to the hotel if you're arriving by train. Has a great kitchen if you want to cook and save some money. Make sure you ask them about the laundry mat down stairs. Kind of close to all the site about 10 min walk. The receptionist was very helpful and super nice. She will answer all your question and make reservation for you if asked.

This was a nice hotel if you are looking for an apartment style hotel in Florence. It had a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, etc. We stayed there for 3 nights, but it is the type of place that would be great for longer stays. It is located right on the river and about a 10-15 minute walk from all the main piazzas and attractions. They stock the room with croissants and breakfast biscuits everyday. The staff is very nice and helpful. The only concern is that since it is an apartment style hotel, there is not a 24 hour front desk or anything like that. Make sure if you are arriving on a weekend or late at night that you call ahead to make sure someone will be there to help you when you arrive. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a more reasonably priced hotel in its class.

This hotel was a little out of the way. About a 15-20 minute walk to all the main attractions. But, it was right on the river and had beautiful views in the evening. There is a bus stop close by if you plan on using the city transportation.

While this is not the standard 24 hour on duty front desk hotel, the proprietors were very helpful once buzzed from the front door. The view is fantastic and looks out onto the Arno. Spots such as the Uffizi and Duomo are within a 15 minute walk. The rooms are more like apartments and very large and pretty nice. Would recommend staying here if you aren't looking for more luxurious digs.

Tip: If you are staying here over the weekend, there is no one at the reception area for any questions on weekends. But you are left with emergency numbers (and people answer them, I called). The hotel (well I'd really call them apartments rather than a hotel) is run by really nice and helpful people. Paul and Silvia were amazing during our stay. If you arrive on a weekend try to e-mail them before you go with any questions, they were very helpful with taxi's and buses and the train system through e-mail before I left for my trip. We walked everywhere (the city centre is probably a good 20 minutes away by foot) and it's right on the Arno river, we had an awesome view of the river from our room. Good place to stay!

It was a great location, clean, everything was just perfect!

After a tour of Florence, we were tired and hot after the tour and some shopping. We were walking back to the bus to retrieve our items to take a taxi to our hotel. As we were about to cross the street, I looked up and discovered that we were already at the hotel. The hotel is right in the heart of shopping and great little restaurants.

Accommodations were listed to provide adequate space for families. This was not the case. The full size bed that two adults slept on was located in the kitchen area of the room and folded up in the middle when we sat on the bed. Also, the continental breakfast was TERRIBLE.

Siamo stati 3 giorni in questo residence. La camera è molto spaziosa, in sala c'erano 2 divani letto matrimoniali per i bimbi, poi c'era la camera matrimoniale molto spaziosa, il bagno(la doccia un po' piccola) e la cucina attrezzata di ogni utensile. Per la colazione era fornito tutto l'occorrente(latte, caffè solubile, the,fette biscottate,brioche,biscotti,marmellate,nutella e succhi di frutta nel frigorifero). La posizione è buona per raggiungere tutti i punti di interesse di Firenze. L'unica cosa che disturbava era il traffico del lungarno.

Notre séjour a commencé par un accueil très sympathique (en Français). Nous avons pu ensuite profiter agréablement de Florence pour visites et repos avec nos deux enfants (7 et 9ans) grâce à cet appartement idéalement situé que nous recommandons !
