Hotel Riga - Ryga

Although the hotel needs some interior re-decorating to change the tired appearance, it is clean and comfortable, as well as a good value. The location makes it easy to travel throughout the city.

The service was a complete disaster... I've booked a new Year's Eve dinner and the service that we've got is the worst one. There were three waitress for 70 people in the restaurant, and, In addition the quality of the food was a disaster... By the price that I've paid and comparing to what I've got... seriously that is a pure Joke but b«not a 4 star Hotel.

I liked this hotel. OK, so it is not a 4* luxury hotel and if this is what you are looking for do not stay here as you will be disappointed. However, it is a decent hotel in a perfect location with good sized rooms and it's clean. The staff were also very pleasant. My grandma is from latvia and apparently Hotel Riga used to be a very up-market hotel in its day and you do get this feeling as you walk around it. Some of my family stayed in another hotel which was further out and more expensive and they all wished they had stayed at Hotel Riga.

This is a well taken care of old fashioned hotel in an exceptionally good location. Best value for money. All monuments/attractions are within 5-10 minutes walk. Go for it

This is an old 4 star hotel with a bit of the old communism look and feel to it. Its not the same quality you might expect from other 4 star hotels as a lot could do with new with decoration etc, as it has an old feel. But if you are considering just a short break I would say its great value as the price is also very good against other 4 stars. As its an old style hotel some of the rooms are far more spacious. 2 out of the 3 times we have stayed the rooms have been very large. Its also very well located in the old city centre.

Commentary: This is NOT a four-star hotel and it's a bit overpriced for the quality of room and service. Great location. I recommend it for short stays of no more than two nights. Definitely not the place to stay if you're on business. There is no good place to work on a computer and you'll definitely loose sleep due to the combination of no A/C and outside noise. DON'T STAY HERE IF YOU WANT INTERNET. A few details: Good Points? + Great location! 2-minute walk to everything. Post office directly across the street. Dozens of taxis waiting out front. ATMs right out the door. Opera House across the parking lot. + Beautiful view! + Extremely helpful Tourist Information desk?perhaps the most helpful I've recently experienced. + Good room security to the hallway, but not so good by the window. + Classic, beautiful building with wide hallways and staircases. Historical Soviet-era structure with a bit of class. Not the typical communist architectural garbage. Not-so-good Points? + Poor attention to detail all around. Bathroom floor dirty around the toilet. Television in disrepair with poor reception on many channels. Only one towel, one wash cloth, and one floor mat. Motel 6-like soap, shampoo amenities in the shower. + No in-room internet. Wireless internet was very expensive and only available in the lobby lounge. One had to work on ones computer while breathing cigarette smoke and listening to a recorded loop of Madonna and Pet Shop Boys music. (I like both groups but not while I'm working.) + Most front desk staff were completely void of personality and emotion. Always chatting with other staff members or talking on their mobile phones. When checking out the woman looked at me with a blank expression and said "Do you want receipt?" + Hot, stuffy rooms. No ventilation and NO A/C. + With no A/C and hot sticky weather, one must leave the window open. Hotel Riga is in a good location - it is possible to view all the major attractions in the old town walking around, but it is not a 4 star hotel by UK standards, although it is clean. My major objection with the hotel was the unfriendliness of the staff behind the bar, at breakfast, at reception... Although we really enjoyed our break in Riga and it's a fascinating place to visit, we encountered unfriendliness all over the city and were not made to feel welcome....

Bathrooms need updating. Programs in other rooms of the hotel were quite noisy. Breakfast bar was good and staff quite helpful. The four star rating is probably too high.

The hotel was advertised as a4 star but I must say that it would struggle to reach 2 stars in the UK. The rooms were large but sparce, ours had a broken tv and no heating untill they eventually sent up a portable heater. Large bathroom but no shower, depressing place really. The staff were stern and unhelpful. We felt as if we were an anoyance that had to be tolerated.

In the center of town, great location, convenient to everything, reasonably priced.

Positives-Hotel Riga was opposite a beautiful park. It is also in the best location in Old Town, across from the Opera House, which makes sight-seeing easy. Okay breakfast. The staff is helpful and friendly, and if you are lucky, you will have Jelena helping you at the Information/Concierge Desk. She is terrific. Negatives--Rooms are unairconditioned, so you have to open the windows. When that happens you hear the raucous drunks on the streets all night and the traffic right outside your window...Riga is a big party town.

Hotel Riga has a great location, right in the center of Old Town. The bad news is that Old Town is noisy all day and all night. The hotel has no air conditioning so the only way to get air is to open the windows and listen to all the noise. It's an old Soviet style "luxury" hotel, so it was interesting to see what that meant. Rooms are in serious need of renovation. Bad hardwood floors in the rooms, ugly tile in the bathrooms (the floor tile looked like it came from the 60s), pillows are huge and stuffed with something that weighs a ton. Carpeting in the hallways was in serious need of being stretched. It had waves in it. Not good for people that could trip. I only had breakfast there. Food was nothing great. The staff was excellent. Very helpful and friendly. Hopefully they will remodel and bring the rooms up to par with the staff.

Hotellets service är rena skämtet. När vi checkade in frågade receptionisten oss om vi hade voucher. Vi sa att vi hade bar bokningsnummer då blev hon otrevlig och skrek att hon vill ha nummer och sedan sa till oss att vi ska ge henne våra pass och det snabbt. Vi sa att hon ska ta det lung för jag måste först ta ut de ur min väska. Hotellet är sjabbigt och slitet. Man för känsla att allt är smutsig och dammig. På rummet tv fungerade inte. Vi bad om nytt. Fick svaret bytt rum men vi hade så många packningar då sa min kille att det är väl enklare att skicka en ny tv till rummet. Det fungerade inte heller för det var något annat fel. Det var stopp i handfatet och lakan i sänger var 30 cm för kort. Frukost var så där även om det var buffe. Vi frågande receptionisten om hon visste vilket väder det skulle bli. Fick svar "maybe" och vände riggen mot oss. Vi började undra vad är det med de som jobbade i receptionen. Vi känner oss lurade därför att vi trodde att det var 4 stjärnig hotell men hotellet borde inte ha mer än 2. Vi har rest i två veckor runt om Estland, Litauen, Lettland och Polen och har varit nöjda med alla hotell som vi bodde på. Hotel Riga var det sista hotellet på var resa och det var den värsta upplevelsen på hela vår resa. Vi rekommenderar värkligen inte det hotellet till någon.

Das Hotel Riga besitzt den Charm der 50er-Jahre. Liegt zentral in der schönen Altstadt direkt neben Oper. Einen Parkplatz findet man problemlos. Das Verhältins Preis-Leistung ist okay.

det är inte det bästa hotellet man kan välja i riga men det ligger centralt så om man inte bryr sig om hur det ser ut så funkar det. det är som att det här hotellet har stannat i tiden och inte utvecklats något alls. allt kostar pengar. lånade deras bissness center för 3latt med lika gammla datorer som hotell. jag skulle inte bo där i gen men det är ju kul att skratta åt nu i efterhand!

Ligger mitt emellan gamla o nya delen av Riga. Nära till allting. Vänlig personal. Bra frukost. Verklig valuta för det som övernattningen kostade. Rekommenderas. Far jag till Riga igen bokar jag garanterat rummet här.

Hotellet ligger mycket centralt, det känns säkert och prisvärt, men rummet är så osmakligt att det stack i ögonen. Men det funkar definitivt!

Hotellet är rent och snyggt med stora rum och bekväma sängar. Frukosten är helt ok, att äta frukost ute i Gamla stan är annars lite dyrt. Läget kunde inte vara bättre, nära till alla sevärdheter och restauranger. Skulle definitivt välja samma hotell igen!

Vi är nöjda med hotellet. Rummet vi fick hade mycket högre stadard än ett annat vi bad att få titta på som hade badkar... Personalen var tillmötesgående och serviceminded. Ett minus var ljudnivån utifrån på natten, så ett par öronproppar hade varit bra att ha med (eller be om ett rum som ligger mot innergård). Hotellet ligger centralt precis vid Opera-huset och frukostbuffén var helt OK!

Veldig bra hotell sentralt i Riga. Dette er helt klart en fordel, for det meste som var å se i byen var i gangavstand. Eneste som vi ikke var veldig fornøyd med var frokosten på hotellet. Litt dårlig utvalg, men mulig at dette er vanlig i Latvia. Generelt godt fornøyd med hotellet totalt sett.

Vi regnede bestemt med at vi fik et lækkert hotel, når vi bestilte et 4 stjernet. Men ak, vi blev dybt skuffede. Dobbeltværelser på størrelse med garderobeskabe, knirkende gulve, så man troede man medvirkede i en gyser film, og receptionspersonale der var fuldstændig ligeglade når man klagede eller bad om noget. Har boet på 2 stjernede hoteller der havde bedre værelser og service end dette "4 stjernede"

Helt kurant hotell, men ikke la de 4 stjernene lure deg, de er der kun på grunn av location location location.. Småslitent hotell, som bærer gammel sovjetisk preg , på godt og vondt, det vil si veldig blomstrete og grønt.

Ønsker alltid litt større rom. Det blir litt liten plass og bevege seg. , Men selfølgelig det er jo ikke der man oppholder seg.

Meget flot Hotel, og lobbyen er imponerende. Ret gamle værelser - trækker lidt standarden ned, men ganske udemærket kvalitet.

Dette hotellet anbefaler jeg ikke til noen som skal reise til Riga. Riga har mange andre hoteller som byr på mye mer enn dette. Dåli service og utrulig dåli frokost.

Dette hotellet skuffet meg stort. I tilleg til at det ikke var spesielt billig så var standaren svak.

Hotellet ligger meget sentralt, men er litt slitent. Likevel greit til prisen.

Man ser att hotellet är från en svunnen era. Stort och mäktigt. Med sliten fasad och ett gammalt inre är det inte utan lite fashination som man kliver in i entrén. Man tänker på sovjetimperiet och de kalla krigens dagar. Hotellet är av medioker standard men personalen är tipp topp. Skall du stanna en weekend så funkar det utmärkt. SKöna sängar, hyffsade rum. TV'n funkar inte och hotellfrukosten var sisådär.

Centralt beliggende 4-stjernet hotel, så man kan gå rundt til det hele: mellem gammel og ny bydel, nabo til shoppingcenter og Letternes store indkøbsmarked af kød, frugt, grønsager m.m., de mange Art-Nouveau-huse, med en 3-retters middag med kaffe og vand til ½ pris i forhold til andre restauranter, nabo til park og Operaen, tæt på ekspresbussen til lufthavnen.
