Hotel Santa Maria Novella - Florence

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the main train station in Florence. Absolutely great room and location and the staff was great. We very much enjoyed the size of the rooms and the rooms were air conditioned! Highly recommend this hotel.

(1) People at the front desk are not that friendly (with "fake" smiles). (2) The breakfast is good, especially a service lady called "Anna" who had been quite friendly and was always smiles toward guests. She was wonderful! (3) The room was nice although a little bit old. (4) Location is great. (5) Hotel rate is too high.

This hotel is a jewel. The room was the largest of the rooms we stayed in in Italy (still not huge). The attention to detail in decorating was outstanding. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the staff was very attentive. The only negative is that it is not in the city center where most of the attractions are, but it was only a 5-10 minute walk to the city center. Excellent restaurants close by. Free access to internet.

The location of the hotel was nice. The room was a decent size. But, we were in the south end, which must be near the sewer system. The wing had a horrible smell. When I inquired about the smell, he said that it was that the AC had not been run for a day. He told me that the smell would improve once the AC ran, but the smell lasted the entire trip. Other areas of the hotel were fine though. The breakfast was also nice. The service was also very good.

this hotel was a perfect little gem room was lovely and clean and very comfortable and modern beautiful marble bathroom Staff were extremely helpful and friendly free internet downstairs however wifi in room was touch and go Only issue is that there is building works going on next to the hotel so work began early in the morning It didn't really effect us as we were up and gone most mornings Breakfast included and breakfast room was beautiful I would def recommend this hotel very close to all the sights

This hotel is an excellent place to stay while in Venice. Our room was large and had a gorgeous view of the Santa Maria Novella Church. The staff was excellent as well.

Really great stay, superb location, the hotel was comfortable and clean. A really good breakfast was included in the price. Staff very efficent and friendly, one of the best hotels I have stayed in.

The Hotel was perfect. Perfect location, perfect staff, perfect room. I stayed in one that had a balcony over looking the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. I am very particular when it comes to hotels and this one exceeded all expectations! The breakfast in the morning was wonderful as well. I will definitely stay here when I come back to Florence...

The location was terrific--right across from the Santa Maria Novella church. We had a terrific view of the church from our room and even from the luxurious bathroom. It was also an easy walk to the Dome. Very helpful staff-- all spoke English. Included extensive breakfast buffet.

The Hotel Santa Maria was a beautiful, charming hotel. The staff couldn't have been more attentive to our needs. They were friendly and extremely competent. Our room was beautifully decorated and fantastic bath products from Santa Maria Novella Pharmacy were given for our use. The breakfast was very good and lovely china and silver was used for serving.The only thing to be aware of is that the plaza outside of the hotel is under construction,which affected our view and made some minor noise. When this is completed,the Hotel Santa Maria Novella will be "perfect".

Great rooms, great location once you find the hotel. Construction made it very difficult to drive to location. Rooms were amazingly large an comfortable. Don't stay on square side of hotel, very noisy until late at night.

This is an older historic hotel in the center of the city and is walking distance from the train station. Entire hotel is very well appointed with very luxurious rooms and bathrooms. The staff were extremely accomadating and speak very good English. They made recommendations for tours, times, restaurants etc. that met all of our needs. The only issue, which is not the hotels fault, is that the Santa Maria Novella Square, which is right outside of the hotel, is under renovation.

The hotel was lovely, especially for European hotels, don't expect Las Vegas standards. The only complaint would be the lighting in the rooms were POOR. It was almost impossible to read small print on reading materials. The women at the front desk were very helpful and friendly, the men on the other hand, while helpful acted a bit aloof and superior. We spoke fluent Italian, I'm sure they would have been even more standoffish if we didn't. The square that the hotel is on is under renovation, it's not loud (maybe because it was traditional vacation time for Italians when we were there, but it wasn't too pretty. Also they are building a sister notel right next door, again, quiet but not to attractive.

Though a bit quirky (get off elevator and then lug suitcase down half a flight of stairs to room) this hotel has lots of charm and sits on a piazza in view of the historic Santa Maria Novella cathedral which unfortunately, was being restored at the time of my visit. Room was spotless and the shower bath lovely and complete with amenities from the Santa Maria Novella Pharmacy -- also within a stone's throw of the hotel and a must see for any visitor to Florence. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Would stay here again.
