Way too far from City Centre to be "Amsterdam" it's in a suburb of Amsterdam.

Very far from the airport. Very far from the city center of Amsterdam. Taxi costs a fortune to and from airport and to and from city center. However, room was nice and very clean, but hotel had an odor of mildew in the halls. I got a sore throat.

This hotel provides amply sized rooms at a very reasonable price -- large bed, two chairs and a small table, etc. The immediate vicinity is uninspiring and lacking in places to eat, but is very well located for public transportation. The 192 Schipol bus is only a block away, the number 17 tram about 3 blocks away, about a 30 minute ride to the Central Station. An attractive modern restaurant complex on a lake is two stops away. Near a night bus route also. When the hotel shuttle failed to arrive, the taxi fare to Schipol proved to be 30 euros. Hotel staff varied in competence and helpfulness.

First time in Amsterdam. I found this hotel. Although this was a 3 star hotel it was clean, nice, friendly and greatly located. I would give it 5 stars. It was walking distance from the Metro train station, 3 blocks from the Red Light District and loads of shopping. It was in a safe neighborhood with a nice patio/congragational area right in front. Staff was great and helpful. I will stay here again.

I chose this hotel partially based on the map location but it turned out to be further away from the center. The tram is within walking distance but the trip in to the center takes about 30 minutes. The taxi from the train station is very expensive. However, ethernet access is free and the hotel will provide a cable on request!

Come here and feel they are doing you a favour serving you. The internet does NOT work in the rooms. A woman who is on reception most days is so abrupt she does not make for a pleasant stay,management take note she should be shelf filling not representing your business.

STAFF WERE ALL VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. ROOM WAS FINE BUT NOT BRILLIANT, NEVER ENOUGH TEA/MILK ETC. THERE WERE 3 OF US BOOKED INTO THE ROOM BUT I ALWAYS HAD TO ASK FOR EXTRA TOWELS AS ONLY 2 EVER PROVIDED. NEVER HAD BREAKFAST AS IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE. ONE NIGHT ONE LIFT BROKE DOWN ANDTHERE WAS A LONG QUEUE FOR THE VERY SLOW WORKING ONE. WE WERE VERY ANNOYED TO LEARN THAT THE ONLY STAIRCASES WERE THE OUTDOOR FIRE EXITS AND WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THEM. HAD TO WAIT IN THE BAR FOR ABOUT HALF AN HOUR... WHAT AN ORDEAL!

We only needed a hotel for one night to have a place to sleep, since we had a 14 hour wait. However, even though they claimed to be close to the airport, the taxifare one way was 38Euro. Way too expensive.

the hotel is nice, it's far from central amsterdam where everything goes on but its easy to get there by TRAM. Beware of the very expensive breakfast, it's not included!

This hotel is a 30 minute tram ride from the city. Contrary to other reviews the walk from the tram stop to the hotel is not very long. The hotel itself is very nice, the bar and restaurant were adequate. There are ample supermarkets and shops nearby. Our room was acceptable but nothing more. The room was quite cold, our spare pillow had a pair of underwear in it and when we complained to staff they were nonchalant about this. We had to ask daily for tea and coffee, and moreover, we had to get it ourselves from reception, mugs were not washed in the daily room 'clean'. This hotel certainly beats a hostel room, but is not a quality hotel.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable with a large ensuite with a great shower. No bath if you were thinking of a nice soak after a long day. I did not have time for breakfast so cannot comment. The evening menu is extremely limited and the food is basic. The restaurant service was friendly but a bit hit and miss.

I stayed for just one night in transit via Schiphol Airport, it's not that close to the airport but I would use it again because it's such good value . I had a beer and meal at the bar and it was ok, the bar staff were very freindly but the front desk staff could be freindlier

From the outside the hotel wasn't the nicest looking we'd ever seen but the room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, although we weren't able to have a double bed, just 2 beds pushed together. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful but we were disappointed with the standard of cleaning. The room was really clean on arrival but during our 4 day stay the room didn't appear to have been cleaned once. Apart from changing the towels, the beds weren't made properly, the bathroom wasn't cleaned and we had to ask for anything extra we needed that you would normally expect to get without asking: shower gel, tea bags, clean cups etc. The location of the hotel is fine if, like us, you're on a budget and looking for something cheap. On the other hand the tram stop was a 10 minute walk away and contrary to other reviews the tram took about 25 minutes into the main area of Amsterdam. We spent roughly £10 a day on the trams to get in and out of the city which could possibly have been better spent on a better location. Overall our stay at the Tulip Inn was ok, but next time we would seek a better location as we felt we were just a bit too far from the sights.

The hotel was really good. I was worried about the location, but a 5 minute walk to the tram stop was really pleasant and the trams were really frequent. The staff in the hotel were extremely helpful and obliging. Only fly in the ointment was the restaurant. After waiting for an hour for our meal to arrive we gave up. After a 6 hour journey in the rain I was past being hungry and there didn't seem to be any reason for the delay. So we had chocolate from the vending machine! Next morning the hotel receptionists were really sympathetic and waived the drinks charge. This hotel is also handy for the airport, shuttle bus, and the motorway which is just 10mins away.

Transportation to the city center is very close and very easy. There is a lot of walking once you get there. Hotel staff was very helpfull with directions to the turist attractions. Good cheap hotel.

The only thing that really bothered me was that they never gave me clean drinking glasses and when the cleaned the room the glasses looked like they were wiped out with a rag. The room was larger than expected. People were really nice. The sheets were never changed.

This hotel turned out to be absolutely perfect for what we wanted. It was just outside of the city centre so found it by taxi when we first arrived but is cheaper to get to in and out of the city centre by tram. The stop is about a five minute walk from the hotel and runs about every ten minutes. The staff were friendly and the receptionist was extremely informative when were first arrived. The room was clean and we managed to have 3 adults sleep in the room comfortably. The only thing that perhaps let the hotel down was the food. Although the food was good, it was over priced for what it was. Even though its not in the very centre of the city, there is easy access and it was an ideal place to stay.

This Hotel is in a not so good neighborhood. Although I never felt unsafe, it was not very nice. The ride to Amsterdam via the tram is quite good. The food is not very good and to expensive. Breakfast should be included in room price. Staff was excellent and very helpful...

Comfortable hotel and great service, a little out of the main city but easy to get to with frequently running trams

I checked in to this hotel on 22/09/07 and was greeted with friendly staff at the reception. I was very impressed at the command of various different languages by the staff as they were attending to a group of people from France before it was my turn. When i checked into the room, it was beyond my expectation. For the price i that i paid, i was expecting a very vasic room...instead i got a very large room with a large bed. It was a very pleasant surprise as i was already tired from my flight. The Wifi connection in the room was excellent too, enabling me to conduct my business while in Amsterdam. The next day, the reception staff was kind enough by providing me a simple guide on how to reach the city centre by tram. It was very useful indeed. The safe provided in the room assured me that my valuable belongings are in good care while i explore Amsterdam. I almost regretted to book only 2 days with the hotel. I'll definitely come back here for my next visit and i recommend this hotel to all first-time traveller to Amsterdam. Dank u!

Only downside, if you could call it that, was the location. About half an hour on the tram to the city but public transport in the Netherlands is a million times better than England.

Property is about 10 minutes walk to Tram 17 which takes about 25 minutes to get to Centaal. The walk is very pleasent along a nice canal park area and many waterfowl. The hotel is located in a very quiet neigborhood that is quite peaceful compared with central Amsterdam. Our room was large by European standards and spotless. Restaurant is good and moderately priced although a small room service pizza will set you back about $25 USD. Conveient shops and food stores are located nearby, but close early. I recommend this hotel as an alternative to busy central Amsterdam, unless that is more to your liking.

Friendly staff. Clean room. Good location close to metro in a quiet neighborhood. You can get to the "nightlife" with a 15 minute metro ride but not deal with the noise when trying to sleep.

The pillows were tiny. The non-smoking room smelled of smoke. Breakfast was 14 euro ($19.00)and was pitiful and cold. They ran out of coffee and tried to sell me a cup for 3 euro($4.00). They provide no details on how to get from the airport on their web page....it is a bus fo 2 euro or the limo service for 19 euro. The internet service price is outrageous when most hotels offer it free. They staff were nice and considerate.

Vi var meget tilfredse med vores 4 overnatninger på dette hotel.. Det var let at tage det meget brugte Tram (sporvogn), en gåtur på ca. 5 minutter i et ganske kønt område, og efter knapt 25 minutter er man inde ved Dam i midtbyen :) Hotellet var pænt og rent, hvilket vi syns er meget vigtigt.. Det var ikke noget specielt prangende, men til den pris kan man bestemt heller ikke forvente 5 stjerner... men hvis man bare skal have et sted at sove, hvor man føler sig tilpas, mens man ser på byen, og man ikke vil bruge en formue på overnatninger, så er dette hotel bestemt et fabelagtigt bud... Og for os der har bil med, er det skønt, at man kan parkere lige ved hotellet =)

Nous avons été étonné par le confort, la propreté et le service. Tout était très agréable. Le seul point faible était que l'hôtel soit situé un peu loin du centre, rien de bien grave.

Velidg hyggelig betjening, spesielt resepsjonistene. Store komfortable rom og treningssenter som vi benyttet daglig.

Med 20 min til Amsterdam centrum ligger hotellet ideelt. Der er kun 10 min ned til en dejlig sø med gode restauranter og indkøbsmuligheder.

OK hotel uten det lille ekstra, passer ypperlig for de som ønsker et ok sted å sove i Amsterdam dersom du skal tilbake til hotellet før 12 om kvelden. Linje 17 med trikken.

Helt ok hotell. Eneste utsetning er at det luktet litt på rommet vi fikk. Air condition anlegget hadde nok forårsaket noe muggdannelse så det ut som. Litt langt utenfor city om det er Amsterdam man skal se. Men det går trikk nr 17 direkte til byen.

Rummen var rena och det vi behövde fanns. Det var enkelt att ta spårvagnen till centrum. Dock ingick inte frukost så den köpte vi i centrum. Personalen på hotellet var dock inte så trevliga..

hôtel calme et très confortable, propreté sans faille. Un petite réserve pour le dîner correct mais plat pas assez chaud.

Cet hôtel, situé dans un quartier "HLM", présente une façade peu accueillante. Le personnel est plutôt agréable, la restauration sommaire mais correcte. En ce qui concerne la propreté, elle laisse vraiment à désirer : rideaux et doubles rideaux tachés, vitres non nettoyée depuis un certain temps...J'avais réservé un grand lit, en fait j'ai eu droit à 2 lits jumeaux rapprochés et comble de la malchance, l'hôtel recevait ce soir là un car d'adolescents qui ont passé une partie de la nuit à déambuler dans les couloirs en vociférant et en claquant les portes.

Passé une seule nuit, mais une très bonne nuit. Propre, spacieux, lits confortables, calme. Quartier pas très beau (HLM), mais parking gratuit.

l'hotel est trés bien et prope. il est un peu dommage que le personnel ne parle pas francais. le seul probléme est qu'il est un peu loin du centre ville mais il est trés proche du tramway 5/10 minute à pied.

Très bon Hotel. Il est situé à 25min en tram du centre. Le ticket de transport (l'hôtel les vends!) pour 7€ est valable 24h a partir de sa premiere utilisation. Excellent pour visiter tout Amsterdam sans Problème. De plus le parking devant l'Hôtel est gratuit. A part ça, l'Hôtel est exellent, L'accueil chaleureux et convivial et la chambre Superbe! Nous avons passés un excellent séjour et si on devait retourner à Amsterdam on reviendrait sans doute à cet Hôtel. A Recommander.

Vi var meget tilfredse med opholdet. Flot velholdt hotel med rene og pæne værelser. Billig overnatning, men lidt dyr morgenmad. Desuden var det let at parkere bilen gratis foran hotellet.
