This hotel is very well located in Buda right next to the Danube with all its action. Easy access by tram or bus right outside the hotel. Very comfortable room - we had a Danube view on the 4th floor, and were able to watch the Red Bull air race from our room. Good breakfast at 12 euro, though cheaper options at the Piaf cafe down the road. The restaurant was closed but there are lots of cheap restaurants nearby, Belgian in particular. 10 minutes walk to the Metro to connect to the railway station. Ideal for visiting Sziget festival.

After a long time getting to Budapest, all we wanted to do was relax in the comfort of our hotel before seeing the sites. This hotel met and exceeded all expectations. Our view of the Danube and the Parliament was amazing. The hotel is in a great location and is in walking distance to all the major sights. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would stay here every time when coming to Budapest.

This was a nice hotel in an excellent location in Budapest. The Castle district, Chain Bridge and metro stops were all walkable distances from the hotel. The metro close by gives you easy access to the entire city. Rooms were clean, and we were glad to have paid the little extra for a room with a view of the Danube river and Parliament, which was lovely. The English speaking staff were helpful when we needed directions, or a charger, etc.

Hotel has very nice lobby and is very clean. Staff are not overly helpful but they will do something if you ask them. Room was clean as was bathroom. Bathroom has a handheld shower with a tub. Breakfast is large assortment of fruit, yogurt cereal eggs and pastries. There was also something like a hot dog and meat but I dont do meat in the morning so I ignored it. It ws a little strange b/c they gave me a smoking room even though I asked for a non smoking room but it didnt smell at all. Air conditioner worked well. With regard to location it is a bit of a walk to the bridge and the neighborhood with better restuarants but closer to the castle and many other sites. There is no alarm clock in the room. 2 computers always available in the lobby.

art'otel exceeded are expectations. It is well located since it is between the Chain bridge and a metro stop. The metro stop allowed us access to all of Pest for a very nominal amount. We also were a short walk to a bus that took us up to the castle area. The hotel has some restaurants nearby that are reasonable and good. We ate breakfast at a near by cafe. The staff was excellent in helping us find where we wanted to go.

Located right on the Buda side of the city right on the Danube river this is a fantastic hotel. We arrived at the hotel to be given a complimentary upgrade to a room on the top floor which overlooked the river and the parliament building. The room was a decent size, got cleaned everyday and had a lovely bathroom. I would highly recommend this hotel for couples. All the staff were very helpful.

I traveled to Budapest by myself as a short side trip during a longer visit overseas. I was looking for a safe and comfortable hotel with a bit of style and was willing to splurge a bit. I booked an art'otel room with a view at a very decent rate and left home with high hopes. I could not have been more pleased with the hotel. The room itself was large, modern and stylish. The bed was very comfortable. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The bar had reasonable prices and a good selection of all the local drinks I'd been told I had to try in Budapest. And the view! Worth every penny extra I paid for it. I had an amazing view of the river through the huge glass doors of my room. I was both gorgeous at night and a great sight to wake up to. I was also very pleased with the neighborhood. The subway and local buses had stops close by, so I felt completely safe even when I went out in the evening. Castle Hill was within walking distance. And in the nearby square there were restaurants, banks and a grocery store. It was both convenient and removed from the tourist mobs. All in all, an amazing place to stay and I would strongly recommend it to anyone going to Budapest.

We stayed for 4 nights so enjoyed a 40% discount! The room had great views to the parliament for an extra 15€/night. You pay for what you get so the rooms are not large but we didn't care. The service from the staff was helpful and the room was quiet. The bathroom was clean but they forgot to give us the shampoo; that's my only complaint :-) The hotel is well situated if you plan to spend most of the time in Buda or don't mind to cross the chain bridge, which is the most centered. You also have a tube station nearby.

This hotel was simply excellent. It was a 5 minute walk from the Chain Bridge, and right next to the Batthyani Ter station that has efficient train service to central Pest. We got a lovely room with a view of the Danube. The staff was great, and the hotel has a nice bar. Buda is a bit more quant that Pest, and I'd strongly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a slightly quieter, mellower side to Budapest.

This hotel was in an ideal location with great views from both sides of the hotel. We could walk across the bridge easily to reach the Pest area and similarly found getting up into the hills on the Buda side, similarly easy. The room was great and overall fantastic value. One thing for international travellers to note is that smoking is not banned and the hotel bar allows smoking which means this is the first thing you smell as you enter. You can't smell it anywhere else in the hotel however. Definately recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a modern, clean, funky hotel within easy reach of lots of sites in Budapest.

Travelled to Budapest for a long weekend. I'd booked this hotel after reading other guests reviews. The hotel is modern and clean. Location wise it's less than 5 minutes from the chain bridge which will bring you across to the more lively side of Budapest. The hotel is about a 15min walk to the main bars and restaurants which is fine as it's a really nice walk with everything lit up at night. Service in the hotel was very good and staff was friendly.

Buses stopped right in front and subway was 2 blocks up so very convient for getting around town. Wasn't in the Pest side where lots of sites are yet theis Buda side was delightful and a very nice neighborhood to get a coffee, dinner or a supermarket complex next to the subway. Gellner and Duma baths were on this side and very easy to get to by the buses. I got winter low rates so it was a bargain to stay in theis very nice hotel. 4.5 star by my standards.

The Art'otel was a wonderful hotel on the Buda side of the river - if you choose to upgrade to a Danube facing room (which I recommend!) the views of the Pest side of the river and Parliment are stunning. The interior decor of the hotel is quirky, but interesting, and the rooms are spacious and very clean. The management and front desk staff were incredibly helpful and accomodating. We ate breakfast at the hotel, which was delicious, and worth the amount charged. This hotel is located within a few blocks of the subway/bus station, and walking distance from the Castle, so all the major attractions are right at your disposal. There is also a grocery store and pharmacy at the subway station.

The Art'otel is a very good value. Convenient location. Modern building and facilities. Nice, clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Great views of the Danube and Parliament buildings. Definitely not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Budapest but the location is very close to these things. Highly recommended. Convenience - Located at the bottom of the Castle Hill section, the hotel is a great choice for those who want a quieter experience on the Buda side of Budapest. However, it is very close to two bridges - Chain and Elizabeth - so it is easy to walk or take cab over the Pest side (BTW, unlike Prague, for example, the taxis here are plentiful, come quickly when called, are reasonably priced and don't try to rob you). The hotel is also very close to a major metro stop (and the metro is easy to navigate) so getting around town from this hotel is quite easy. There are a number of restaurants and cafes nearby, too. Also, there is a large supermarket up the street where drinks and snacks (and lots more) can be purchased for a fraction of what the hotel room snack bar costs. Rooms - Well maintained, clean and quiet. Comfortable beds. Small bathrooms but not like some in Europe or NYC. Shower water pressure and hot water were fine. I highly suggest asking for a river view room - as high up as possible (although when the widows are shut the street noise is minimal). Rooms on one side overlook the Danube with beautiful views of the Parliament building. Rooms on the other side look up onto Castle Hill. Amenities- A nice, low key bar / cafe is right off the lobby. There is a "business center" (a glass enclosed room with a few PCs on a large table) with adequate internet access for free. They charge a lot (forget how much) for in-room internet access so the free access did the trick for me. Nearby Food Options - I didn't have dinner at the hotel. The hotel restaurant prices seemed high and i wanted to try the outside restaurants anyway. There are a number of re

The hotel lived up to my expectation. It is a good option for a short stay in Budapest. Being situated on the Buda side it is ideally located for exploring the Casltle area. However, it requires a minimum 15 min walk, crossing the Chain Bridge, to get to the main tourist areas on the Pest side. Public transport options on this side of the extensive Danube River are more limited than the Pest side.

Budapest was the highlight of our vacation, and art'otel was a big factor in our positive impression of the city. This hotel is amazing. The decor is whimsical, colorful, and classy. The ambiance and amenities are sophisticated, the location is superb (what a glorious view of Parliament, right across the river!), and I can't say enough about the service. The gentlemen at the reception desk took care of our every need, provided us with excellent advice, booked everything we needed (taxis, dinner reservations, etc), were not above suggesting options for us to save money (such as finding inexpensive taxis), and in short, made sure that our stay in the city was flawless. We stayed at the end of June and I wrote a reveiw then, but don't see it, so here it is again. The room was extremely clean and modern. The bathroom light burnt out in the morning before we left the hotel and when we came back in the evening, you could see someone had changed it without us having to ask. We walked all over Budapest; I'm talking miles and miles, and I still feel as though the hotel was in the best possible location. It is on the river and our room doors opened to the parliament bulding lit up at night. We walked just a few blocks to the lift that brings you up to the old town and Budabest Castle. The local area felt very safe and had nice places to eat at night. Beware though, we ate at two places that only accepted cash even though the food was great and it seemed to be a classy place just around the corner from the hotel. Internet service was free and the front desk was very helpful. One particular thing I liked is that on three occasions we had the desk call a taxi for us and the company they used was great. They arrived in nice, new Mercedes with air conditioning and it was no more than the first taxi we took that didn't even have air conditioning.

I had difficulty rating the hotel due to the fact that art'otel met most of my expectations with the major exception of the quality of the beds which is a critical factor in this review. My husband & I had a queen bed that was very springy in the sense that you could feel the coils and you wake up feeling back pains (I am young, healthy and do not have any recurring medical issues). I usually do not have difficulty with falling asleep in most hotel beds. On the last night, I hated the bed so much that I slept on the floor (which was not any better). My husband slept on the floor for most of the duration. The positive experiences that we had included the location (Castle District and 3 blocks from metro), economical prices of buffet breakfast, and overall look of the hotel. It is modern and elegant. The hotel room carpet needed some major cleaning though.

Well equipped, good size, quiet room - ours had a view up to the castle and down to the courtyard. I liked the fact that the windows opened properly so you could turn the air-con off and get fresh air. Coffee and tea facilities and in-room safe were useful and the staff were friendly and helpful. We'd definitely use the hotel again. The location was excellent - close to a metro and tram stop and an easy walk to the Pest side (where several hotels are next to noisy building sites). We'd recommend breakfast at the Coyote cafe (in Markovitz Ivan Utca near the metro stop) if quality caffeine is needed to start your day. An excellent restaurant is close by - Mandragora (at Kacsa Utca, 22) we went because it was full of locals and soon appreciated why. Turn right out the front of the hotel and you come to a Belgian bar with the best beer we found anywhere in Budapest and a nice buzz.

Behind the hotel is a wonderful little park adjacent to the national dance theatre and a church. The French Institute and restraunt are 2 blocks away and 2 very good Hungarian restraunts are one block away. I did not eat at the hotel because of the great food near and in Pest, also the hotel breakfast was extremely over priced. Enjoy your trip!

The hotel was located just a few blocks walk from Budapest Castle and standing at the doors of our room, we looked out across the river to the parliment building. The room was very clean, the only problem was the shower has a half door and where it connected to the wall it leaked horribly when you took a shower. The room was not large, but had a useful storage area against the wall. The bathrooom was small, but very clean. The first night we were there, one of the lights burned out in the bathroom, when we got back from lunch the next day they had removed the fixture and replaced it even though I forgot to tell anyone about it. The front desk was very nice and helpful and when we asked for a taxi, it was there in a few minutes and everytime it was a new mercedes with air conditioning, unlike the one we took to get there. And it didn't cost a dime more than the other taxis. We only had to walk a couple of blocks from the hotel to find some really good restuarants, but be warned, though some were very nice, they only took cash. I'm a fairly picky person right down to noticing the hair and dirt in the corners they never clean, but this place had none of that. It was nice and I would stay there again. The air conditioner worked really great too!

I only gave 4 for service as our pre-booked transport was not arranged, however we were given a free upgrade to compensate. Our room overlooked the Danube & Parliament, beautiful. However rooms at the back had a lovely view also of Buda & Fishermans Bastion. We were minutes from chain bridge took about 15 mins to walk from hotel over bridge & into Pest. 5 mins walk to Metro/bus station, and about 10 mins. up to fishermans bastion although lots of steps so you need to be reasonably fit. Try Marvelloso cafe just past funicular past chain bridge, (Buda side) it has olde worlde charm & breakfast starts 8.30, most cafes open after 10 am. small but lovely. Also Sailors Bar next to hotel excellent service & good food. Taxis are a bit hairy to travel in at least ours was & watch out for bikes they tend to appear from nowhere. Don't pay the first price asked in shops or street traders, haggle a bit you will probably pay half the price originally asked. Lots of things for kids to do on Margaret Island, about 30-40 mins walk from hotel. Aquapark, swings, swimming, take the little train round to get a feel of where you want to go. Do carry your passport, free to go into Parliament if your in the EC, plus lots of museums free or half price if you show passport or over 60. Also all public transport free if your are over 60. We will definately be going back and weather was lovely late June early July.

The hotel was fantastic. The rooms are beatiful (well worth the extra dollars to get a Danube-view room) and have plenty of space. The hotel is on the Buda side of Budapest, which is near the Castle. (although the castle is all the way up the hill and you probably won't want to walk up to it more than once). The surrounding neighborhood was pretty and safe-feeling, but all the shops and most of the restaurants were closed. We were there at the end of May, what I would think to be a good tourist season, but there are no tourists around that area and no shopping or dining close to the hotel. You need to go all the way to Pest for that stuff.

Approx 10 minutes away from the Palace Buildings and 5 Minutes walk from the Chain Bridge. Trams run past hotel to allow you to get quick access to Pest. Make sure you book your airport taxi directly from the hotel to ensure you dont get ripped off by random rogue taxis. Phone the Hotel to order this and you can save £20. My wife and I were extremely satisfied with the hotel -- particularly for the price. It's very clean, the beds were great, the bath as expected was small but very functional. The lobby has a great sitting area with a nice bar. The Business Center has 4 computers for use. The staff was friendly and acommodating. We loved the Buda side of Budapest. Admittedly, not as many stores and sights as the Pest side, but very nice nonetheless. The Fisherman's bastion is close as is the Castle Hill district. Check out the Hungarian Wine center. We found a great local restaurant just below the steps leading up to the Fisherman's bastion. One note of caution. Be careful about the exchange rate. It can be confusing. The local currency is florints. The exchange is 170ish to the dollar. They also take Euro's at a different conversion rate. Budapest is a beautiful city. It is not as cheap as it was 5 years ago. We also got hit with some tourists premiums. The price of one stick of kielbasi was very different from one vendor to another in the Great Market!!! We were charged for 3 glasses of wine when we only had 1. The waiter was very apologetic, but check the bill closely when it comes. Capitalism is an amazing thing when you look at the vibance of this beautiful city!!!

This hotel was very clean and comfortable and in a great location. The view over the river is gorgeous. However the staff would rather make flimsy excuses than make any effort to assist you. The desk clerk would not call for dinner reservations for us claiming we should just take our chances by showing up at his recommended restaurant. Of course once at the restaurant they were unable to seat us because we didn't have reservations. The service was even worse at the bistro. The server told us she was out of hot chocolate. The table beside us whom was drinking hot chocolate told us that if you insist on having hot chocolate she would bring it which turned out to be true. She also brought out the wrong order to our table as well as the table beside us. When the table beside us claimed they had ordered chicken and that is not what they had gotten, she said they were out of chicken. This was funny because we had ordered chicken and gotten it. I would expect better service at a four star hotel. However, if you don't eat at the hotel's bistro or expect much help from the desk clerks, the hotel is lovely.

The reviews in guide books was good but we were disappointed during our stay. The equipment in the "fitness center" was not maintained, did not work and was not repaired when reported. The breakfast was glorified on the website but was disappointing and not a value for the price. No clock in the room and no Englsh language televison station.

The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful without being pushy or stuffy. The room was quiet, you could not hear other guests, and the back of the hotel has good views of the castle. The decor was good, and although not as different from other hotels as I had expected from an art hotel. The location was perfect with a good restaurant next door and another around the corner. I would definitely stay here again when I come back.

You can't find a better location to see the sites in Budapest from this hotel. It was much nicer than I expected for the money, a great find. Liked the whole theme of basing a hotels design around one artists works, I would stay in there other hotels also.

We stayed at this hotel in October 2007 for three nights, and we loved it. The location is perfect - right on the river, a couple blocks from the Metro, and in walking distance to almost everything. Our room overlooked the Danube and the view was outstanding. The staff was polite and very helpful, even when they saw that we had a one year old in tow. Breakfast on the second day was a little hectic at the hotel. They do a buffet breakfast and it was crowded - we waited a while for coffee and the hotel ran out of some of the breakfast items (maybe they were replenished later, but not by the time we left the restaurant). Other than the mediocre experience with breakfast on one of the days, everything about the hotel was outstanding and we would stay there again.
