Mercure Francis Bath - Batas (Bath)

My Mum and I had a lovely stay in the Mercure Francis Bath. The hotel was very centrally located on Queens Square meaning everything was only a short walk to explore. On arrival the staff were very helpful at suggesting things to do around Bath and we were given a complimentary room upgrade. The room was small but lovely and the decor was very modern. I would definitely stay again.

Although the hotel has an excellent location right in the centre of bath with most sights within less than 5minutes walking distance, the quality of the hotel was poor although looked as though it was being improved. Unfortunatly during our stay we had a unrenovated room with an old bed the new rooms looked very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The car park has a £12 charge for staying over night. Clean room although a little drab, although for the money it was worth it and one of the very few hotels offering a one night stay over the weekend as most hotels stipulate that you stay for 2 nights over the weekend in peak time.

The great plus of this hotel is its central location, and for me, on this trip, that was worth the price. On site parking is a great asset as well but costs £10 a night. When i'm paying this much for a room that was nothing special in itself, I'm not impressed by being charged for parking and breakfast (opted out of breakfast at the ridiculous price of £13.50) Hotel is pleasant but shabby at the edges.

First time staying in Bath. The hotel was fairly nice. I had one of the older rooms - the carpet was worn, and some of the paint was peeling in the bathroom. But the rooms are slowly being renovated - a friend of mine was in one of the newly renovated rooms, and he was quite pleased. My only negative criticism is that they do not have international plug adapters available at the front desk. They sell them at 10 Quid which is a bit steep. I only needed to recharge my laptop's battery, so I borrowed my friend's. Wi-fi is not free - you need to sign up via T-mobile which kinda sucks. Breakfast was good - but pricey. Other than that - great stay. Very comfortable lounge - nice ambiance. I'd go back for sure.

Everything was very comfortable. We did find the room a little "stuffY" but not use to the English weather and the heating I think this is the "Norm" Staff were excellent and very hospitable.

Let me get say the bad stuff first, then I'll get to the reason why its worth staying here. This hotel is a bit run down when you first step into the lobby. Service is just okay. You had to yell for 5 minutes before someone comes out from the office. The hall ways are a bit uneven. However, our room was very clean and very comfortable. Its small but very cute. The bath tub is super clean. They even have the towels on a towel warmer. Our beds were very comfortable and clean. Located in Queens Square, makes it very convenient yet away from the busy crowd. Its situated between the Circus and the Roman Bath. 1-5 minute walk to all the attractions. The price is definitely a good trade for the quality. Stay here if you're on a budget and want a nice quality room other than a hostel or holiday Inn.

On arrival we found that the Francis Bath had it's own Car Park - Which was a fantastic bonus. We were checked in pleasantly and efficiently. The room was basic but served its purpose. However the location was unbelievable! The hotel was situated right in the middle of Bath with all attractions including shops, restaurants, the abbey and the baths all very close by.

Friendly staff, a good location, and a modern comfortable room. I would stay here again.

I visited here before and had a refurbished room which was lovely. This time I had one with wallpaper peeling off the walls, huge areas of mould in the bathroom, 1970s tiling in the bathroom, windows that didnt fit and an unpleasant smell. If you are booking here make sure you get a refurbished room!

one complaint is the entrance to the car park,with the drop down bar,you can not see when it is the ground and I touch the bar with my car,fortunately no damage,but I wonder if anyone else has.

We found the hotel very confortable and a relaxing place to stay, friendly and polite staff nothing was too much trouble. Central for the town centre and free entertainment from buskers and entertainers in the square opposit the hotel. We would stay there again when we go to Bath in the future

A well positioned hotel in the centre of Bath close to the shops, restaurants and Spa. The restaurant looked a little cold and impersonal and with so much choice within easy walking distance didn't tempt us in. Instead we visited the Olive Tree restaurant about 5 minutes walk away, first class food and highly recommended. Although the hotel was going through a phase of refurbishment the only thing that disturbed our sleep were the seagulls that woke us at 4.00am and didn't stop. Can't blame the hotel for that! Overall a reasonable experience for a 3 star if a little expensive.

The weather was humid and the windows were either painted shut or the cords were broken so impossible to get any fresh air. Air conditioning totally unsatisfactory. Room was hot and stuffy the whole time, leading to a sleepless night. No ventilation at all in the bathroom - so hot and steamy.

I would have paid more for a better room. The value was not up to the price. Floors squeeked throughout the hotel. Bathroom is ridiculous...nowhere to put your toiletries, no light in the commode area or closet area, fan stays _on_ when light is turned off (this is especially annoying at 4am!)Hair dryer is in the bedroom _not_ in the bathroom where it is needed. Electrical socket in the bathroom is useless, it's blocked by the mirror. The good points are there is a coffee maker in the room. The hotel is close to 90% of the major sights in town, so you can walk to The Crescent, Abbey, Roman Baths, restaurants, shops and stores, theatre, bus/coach station, train station, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed Bath for 4 days. Bath is a good town to stay in if you plan to see Stonehenge, Castle Combe, Lacock (Harry Potter town), and the Avebury stones. Next time I'd spend a few more pounds and stay in a nice hotel.

This is a beautiful hotel right in the middle of Bath. we didn't use our car once. The room was fantastic with a lovely view of the square. Couldn't ask for a better spot. Staff were very friendly. Our stay was perfect except could have stayed abit longer !

Great place to stay for access to Bath. Only spent one night, room was a good size and had everything expected. Checked in early which didn't cause any problems with the staff. Shame that the breakfast wasn't included in the price but plenty of local cafe's etc to get something to eat. Hotel breakfast way too pricey. Overall, would use this hotel again.

This hotel was close to the sites we wanted to visit, and it was very convenient and comfortable. The service was excellent. Transportation was close by as well as numerous restaurants and shops.
