W New York - Niujorkas

I had a great experience recently at the W Hotel in NYC on Lexington and 49th. The hotel was modern, clean, and was upgraded to a great corner room without asking! Service was also very friendly. Also, in walking distance to many great restaurants, Grand Central Station, and the Theater District (without having to put up with all of the hassle of Times Square).

We were greeted with a room across the hall having hired a male stripper for a girl's night out party. Security had to come after two adjacent guests pounded on their door and asked them to keep the noise down.

Last year we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria so I was slighlty put off staying at another hotel when the Waldorf was just pure excellence. I must say the W on Lexington and 49th really suprised us. The staff were very friendly and professional, the layout was a contemporary NYC Hotel. The room was slightly on the small side but comfortable for 2 people. We had a 40 inch Plasma TV, 5 different types of lighting, excellent quality bed with the BEST pillows. I cant wait to go back again in December and stay here.

Stylish and modern and overall beautiful design. Very classy feel and bed was comfy. Had a great nights sleep!

Very trendy place. Staff was very helpful and rooms are very slick and modern. Only downside was there always seemed to be a line at the front desk.

I stayed at the W Hotel New York, Fantastic suite. The room is nicely decorated but when I got to the bathroom, it was dirty. The shower drain clogs up when taking a shower, the complimentary bathroom supplies were half empty, and there was a "2" stain on the toilet seat. The housekeeping has the tendency to go in your room without knocking, even after I put the "do not disturb" sign. The front desk were not very friendly when I checked in. Overall This hotel was not what I expected from the "W" brand hotels. I have always thought of them as having good customer relation service. But not with this hotel, The housekeeping was terrible and frontdesk were rude. Their motto for the hotel is "what is your wish". My wish is that I should have stayed at another hotel.

The W hotel is fabulous, very attentive staff and lots of them, wonderful atmosphere, cutting edge interior design and great location in the heart of Manhattan. The one issue I encountered was it was not soundproof against air conditioning noise from adjacent rooms. Late at night ac off in your room you will hear it from other rooms. The room entry hall is quiet and you could sleep there on the floor. But at the bed the ac noise from other rooms is with you, if you care.

I've stayed at a number of W hotels and like the rooms and amenities. This hotel is no exception, but the exception on this trip was the room full of loud, screaming, obnoxious party animals right next door. They were already noisy and loud when we arrived at 4 p.m., and the partying continued until 11 p.m., when they finally left to continue their party somewhere else. We called the hotel management with no results. So we had to go downstairs to talk directly with the manager, who finally sent someone up to kick them out of the room. It was very disturbing and unfortunate. The management should have been more responsive from the beginning and shouldn't allow so many people in one room at a time. By the next morning when we were leaving, they were awake and talking loudly again.

We went to check in to a "spectacular view" room which was supposed to be at least 11 floors up and were told the room wouldn't be ready until 3pm. We returned at 3 pm and were stuffed into a small room next to the spa on the 3rd floor, which smelled like acetelene from fingernail polish removal. I tried to contact the manager and assistant manager and they didn't even bother to return my calls.

I loved the W Hotel. I staff was extremly helpful and it was well kept. The only bad thing is the rooms are extremly small.

One of the best experiences ever. The room was the small but the perfect size for the lone traveler and the price couldn't have been better. The room was spotless and the service was outstanding. Be sure to take advantage of the Bliss Spa steam room and sauna. As a former residence of NYC, I was a frequent visitor of the various watering holes in The W and this trip was no exception. The only very, very small issue - the light in the room was rather dim. I hate to even mention it, because everything else was so great. I was treated like royalty even though I showed up looking like a drowned rat. Highly recommended.

*Our room was small but it was comfortable and very clean, which is really important to us. *The Hotel is in a great location. Restaurants, shopping, time square, and central park are all within walking distance. *We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

even only a "full size" bed barely leaves enough space in room for much else. I wish I would have known the room had such a small bed. Barely enough room for 2 people. Everything else about the hotel was very trendy and as advertised.

Nice hotel and we got a good deal. Our room was right by the elevator lobby. Other, very loud hotel guests woke us up late at night/early morning when they returned to their rooms.

the hotel was expensive considering the size of the room. we stayed one night and we live in ny, so we only had a backpack. I would not be happy staying in that room for a week if I had an actual piece of luggage with us. but it was very clean and the bliss soaps are nice. lobby was very loud becasue of the bar.

The room was very noisy and the bathroom sink was clogged. Hotel employees were not helpful.

This room looked like it had not been stayed in for a while. The desk was dusty and the candy bars, nuts, etc. were covered in dust.

Overall, the location was good, they seems scattered at the front desk it took a while for someone to check me in even though 3 people were there doing nothing. I was unable to get what they call BIP treatment at the spa, only an evening opening during the dinner hour. We waited for 25 minutes trying to get a drink at the whiskey bar even though the bartender looked at us about 5 times. The design of the hotel is nice, the concierge was pleasant enough and did get us reservations quickly for dinner. Overall I would rate it at about a C considering it is a "W" Hotel I would expect more in the way of attentive service for all of their customers.

I loved this hotel. The lighting was very romantic and fun. The atmosphere was perfect for a young couple. The best part is that the rooms are absolutely spotless. The only negative point was our view.

The W Hotel was the best hotel I have stayed in along time. The staff and service was excellent.

This hotel was superb and I enjoyed my stay immensley! From the moment you walk in you can sense the luxury and extra style of the place. The W Hotel chain has looked beyond the traditional 5 star hotel model and gone for something more funky. You are greeted by enjoyable background music and there are treats on offer such as chocolates for extremely refreshing fruit water as you wait for the lift. You room has all the facilites you could wish for - giant plasma screen, ipod dock (internet connection - although i would have prefered a wireless connection) and luxury bath products from a nearby by spa! Delightful! The bed was amazingly comfortable and made and turned down each day - with a chocolate on the pillow! Apart from the hotel itself, the location was excellent for a tourist wanting to see the sihgts. Right in the centre of midtown - only a few avenues across from Sax on 5th Ave and the Rockefeller Centre with a subway / metro stop right nearby for any ventures up or down town. I could not have been more impressed with my choice of hotel!

I love this hotel. It is right near everything in Manhattan. The room is decorated in a modern style, and looks great. They even have an iPod hook up which really made my trip fun. Everything is extremely clean and new looking. They have a great little bar downstairs too. The room is a little small but it was hardly a problem.

Room AC was loud and thermostat did not function properly extremely hot or cold. Maintenance came, thought the problem was fixed but it wasn't. I could have called to switch rooms in the middle night but didn't. Rest of the hotel was very good.

The W was very much like staying at a spa, nicely appointed and stylish lobby and lobby bar, even scented elevators! The room was very small but very nicely appointed and clean. Only complaint, no adequate reading lights around the bed, bring your own if you want to read. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant, it was very nice but a bit pricey. Just up the block toward 51st street the Metro Cafe is good and half the price. The location is excellent, just 3 blks from Rockefeller Center. We'd definitely stay here again.

the whole hotel has deemed light , Hallway and rooms are dark. black ceiling and purple wall , very very deem lights , I could not even see the color of my shirt , It is depressing. carpet in hall way is dirty ,elevators often did not work with my card .Hotel likes to be contemporay , but DARKKKKK , it is sad ,cold and depressing enviroment .I will never stay there again

expensive, but very nice. the only issue was how crowded it was, but considering it was new years eve i dont think that crowdedness would be normally be an issue.

The hotel rooms were very nice and comfortable. Good amenities. Front desk staff wasn't the greatest, though, and wouldn't give me the room I had booked months ago and prepaid. Staff told me they had no smoking rooms. I had to produce an email (at my own cost in their business center) to prove I had the booking, then magically, it appeared. Bell staff is very helpful and friendly, so is housekeeping. Just don't rely on the front desk people for much.

the location was central to many sites and walking distance to even more. also the subway line was close by which made traveling outside the immediate area easy

Very good hotel, only problem was that I was assigned to a smaller "comfort" room. When I called to either get a rate adjustment or a larger room, they reassigned us to the room for which I had paid for. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay.
