Gabrielli Sandwirth Hotel - Venice

The Sandwirth was one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Everything was topnotch. The staff was very accommodating and welcoming. The hotel restaurant is outstanding. Breakfasts were good and dinner was superb. Although dinner menu is a little expensive, it is worth every Euro. Four-star menu and the finest service in a beautiful room. The hotel's location is perfect...near everything but not at all noisy. The rooftop "garden" offers comfortable lounges and a great place to sun and to take in the stunning views. My sister and I each had a very small single room but they were very comfortable. I truly loved the bathrooms...what old-world charm and luxury!!! Beautiful marble everywhere, a large toilet, a large bidet that worked well, very deep and spacious bathtub and a very large sink. Everything very clean and comfortable. Hotel staff take full charge of toting your luggage...you only have to unpack when you arrive and to pack up to leave. I'd come back here anytime! Can't go wrong...and the price was low for the value.

It was touted as 4 star. The rooms are no bigger than a closet. It reminds of a hostel and not a four star hotel. The hotel is a very convenient location. At best this is a 2 star hotel.

Stayed for two nights in May. The location was down from St. Marks and Doge's Palace a little way but it's so beautiful there who cares! The room is small (my friend joked they turned a closet into a room) but it was clean, quaint, and safe so who cares it's vacation and it's what you make out of it - it doesn't make you! There was a safe in the room and toiletries, hairdryer, and towels.

The Gabrielli, like all hotels in Venice I've stayed in is quaint and charming but for its rating may disappoint seasoned travellers who are used to the facilities of top hotels. This is the case everywhere in town though from what I've seen and the Gabrielli was very clean and comfortable without being spectacular. That said, the location is superb being both close to St Marks but far enough away, and the secret roof terrace is delightful, a peaceful haven in an otherwise crazy place.

Very unfriendly staff, rooms and service way below standard

We had no bad experiences at this hotel. But, we went there expecting a 4 star hotel and so were very disappointed. The rooms are tiny and are far from relaxing or romantic. And don't expect any local tips from the concierge, he will only send you to the most generic of restaurants.

Hotel location right on the Grand Canal, with a Roof Top Bar area to watch the Sun go Down and the city go about its business, the perfect place to relax. The service and attention was great and always polite and accommodating. Thanks

The hotel used to be a palace but the hotel has no written information about its history. All rooms are apparently different - ours was originally revamped after the 2nd world war. It has been updated with air-con, emergency lighting, smoke alarm etc but the fittings and furnishings remain dated. Not old enough to be antique and not new enough to be fashionable. There was hardly any information provided about hotel services, facilities, outings or things to do. The info pack in the room was non-existent. It was not until we arrived home that we learned from friends that the hotel has a Roof Terrace that overlooked the Lagoon!! The room was kept spotlessly clean and towels were changed every day even though we indicated that they need not be renewed. We only had breakfast which was a daily buffet affair but was the same every day. This is a hotel in need of a facelift or at the very least a complete redecoration. It seems that it is pot luck whether you get a decent room or one like we had which was not a lot for the money paid.

Hotel was fantastic, in a brilliant location (near boat stop) and easy to find after a long day of exploring. Had a brilliant view from our room over grand canal and the roof garden was just as nice too. Room was slightly dated but didnt cause no discomfort, its venice, everything is old. Brilliant hotel.

Our room had the best view in all of Venice. It overlooked the bay and way very large as well as clean. If you have baggage take a water bus or taxi to get to the hotel. Dont walk Venice is a very hard city to navagate.

Very close to San Zaccaria vaporetto (water bus) stop. Easy walking distance to St Marks Square and pretty much the rest of Venice. Beds are hard as are the high pillows, low pillows are softer. Morning breakfast is very good (our taste is muesli, fruit and yogurt), good bread rolls, meats and cheese available . Rooms are quieter on the back of the hotel - that fine view out the front over the waterfront includes the boat noises at night. Great view of the sunset from the terrace on the roof. All in all a great place to stay.

Although the hotel has a very charming lobby and layout, and is in a great location, the room I was in was very dated, small, and there was mold on the bathroom tiles. The shower area was small and as careful as I was, there was water everywhere.

the hotel for the price we paid was outstanding right on the canal in venice a short walk to st. marks historical clean comfortable the food in the hotel ws excellent over all we were extremely happy with this hotel!!! Can not wait to go back!!!

Need a better way to take shower. Curtain is to close to start but will stick to you when shower is on.

At best a three star hotel. Too expensive for room quality. Main advantage is its location. Hotel.com should worn its clients that this IS NOT a 4 star hotel.

The location is perfect, right next to the arsenale stop. And extremely close to San Marco, I actually went back to my room to use the washroom and went back to San Marco's plaza. The hotel is very very old, and the facilities are not nice. The rooms are paperthin, and seems very unreliable. The hallways looks creepy, especially at night. They only have an elevator big enough for about 4 people.

The location of this hotel was convenient. The staff was helpful and the rooms were clean. However the in room internet didn't work, but they did take the charges off our bill.

Resturant was well managed with courtious staff and great food. Atmosphere of hotel was elegant but very friendly and warm.

Hotel has been around for several hundred years as mentioned by the staff, but is still in good condition. Rooms are decent in size for a couple. It is about a 15 minute walk to St. Mark's Square & that's if you're taking your time. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to family/friends.

Although we had a beautiful view the room was very small and could use some minor repairs. Per staff it was 600 years old.

Koseleg personale, god frukost, ok standard på rommet, reint og fint, og ikkje minst: Svært sentralt i forhold til sights som Markusplassen, Dogepalasset og Sukkenes bro.

Jeg forstår ikke helt, hvordan dette hotel har opnået fire stjerner. Det fremstod umiddelbart som et ok hotel, virkede seriøst og renligheden var i orden. Men flere i receptionen virkede uinteresseret, værelset er skrabet uden minibar og morgenmadsbuffeten havde et udvalg, jeg ville have forventet på et tostjernet hotel. Desuden er prisen for internet i overkanten. Ah, forresten, de snyder tykt med beliggenheden, som ikke er nær så central, som der angives på kortet. Tjek selv adressen på fx Google Maps og se. Ikke særligt sympatisk i mine øjne og irriterende, da jeg måtte slæbe min kuffert noget længere end forventet.

Το ξενοδοχείο είναι πολύ βολικό στις συγκοινωνίες και κοντά στα αξιοθέατα. Το πρωϊνό θα μπορούσε να είναι πλουσιότερο, τα μονόκλινα δωμάτια λίγο μεγαλύτερα και των καπνιστών, είναι απαράδεκτο να μην έχουν ψυγείο!

Hotellet ligger på kajen mycket nära båtstation Arsenal på linje 1, och på gångavstånd från Markusplatsen. Med andra ord perfekt läge. Ett gammalt förnämt hotell, där rummen sannolikt varierar i storlek och design. Vårt rum var stort, med fönster mot innergården, och mycket bekvämt. Det hade avskild dressing room avdelning med stort badrum, eget litet rum med handfat och spegel, stora skåp och garderober, safe och minibar. Stor buffefrukost. Mycket bra service i reception och annars.

Et helt greit og sentralt beliggende hotell. Ingen luksus, men heller ikke dårlig. Enkel og grei frokost. Hyggelig betjening.

The location of the hotel was fantastic and had a nice atmosphere. The room was very basic and the only english tv channel on the very very old tv was CNN....they had no problem offering programmes to the french and germans but as ususal in italy, there were no english programmes. The boat to the airport departs just outside the hotel and its a 5 - 10 min walk to St marcus Square. .The breakfast was ok - but bread was stone hard. I would only stay at the hotel if I got a good deal.

Accueil discret et efficace. Magnifique vue sur la lagune depuis la chambre. à 50m du vaporetto, 300 du pont des soupirs, 350 de la Place st Marc. Peut être un peu trop de bruit sur le quai la nuit, mais que serait Venise sans bateau...

surprise de la chambre: vieux mobilier, chambre triste. le dernier jour nous avons du prendre notre petit déjeuner dans la salle du bar sous prétexte que la plupart des tables de la salle restaurent était réservées pour un groupe.

Hic birseyle ugrasmadan sadece gezip tadini cikardik. Hotel.com'a hem tesekkur ediyor hem de kutluyorum.

ben posizionato...a pochi passi dal centro (s.marco) e da lle fermate dei traghetti.... Ideale per chi arriva in aereo e con molte valigie grazie alla fermata del traghetto ALILAGUNA che si trova di fronte all'hotel.

Wenn sich im Sommer bei dreissig Grad Außentemperatur im Bad die Heizung an ist und sich trotz mehrfacher Reklamation nicht abstellen laesst, ist dies mehr als aergerlich und die Argumentation, andere Hotelgäste wuerden dies schaetzen ist laecherlich. Das Hotel hatte sicherlich frueher mal bessere Tage.,
