The Mansfield Hotel - Niujorkas

I went on a holiday around the US for a month. Starting from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to Washington DC, Newport RI and finally to New York. Of all the hotels i stayed in, the Mansfield hotel was the most expensive. Sad to say, it was also the smallest room i've ever stayed in my whole life. From your bed, you can touch the four corners of the room without having to get off the bed. we could hardly find room to place our luggage. Upon check-in we requested for a kingsize bed, they said there wasn't any available. When i entered the room, it suddenly hit me that they could never fit a Kingsize bed in the room. For the bathroom, it was the smallest sink i've ever seen.... Everthing in the hotel was small, from their elevators to their hallways, to their stairs. Aside from the size, the room was so dark. Our telephone in the room doesn't work. we complained about this with the front desk...their answer was "there's nothing they could do." The location of the hotel though was fantastic. it was right at the corner of 44th street and 5th avenue. Other than that, there's nothing else to rave about the hotel.

My experience at The Mansfield Hotel was great- from check in to check out. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a great size, clean, and comfortable. In addition, the location was close to Times Square. I would absolutely go back to The Mansfield Hotel.

The hotel is in a great location and ok for a 1 night stay. The food and bar was very expensive, and the room and hall was very small. I had a difficult time using the mirror in the bathroom because it was so small.

while not particularly easy to find i really enjoyed my stay at the mansfield. it was close to nearly everything i do when i'm in new york. times square, radio city, broadway and fifth avenue are all within walking distance on a nice day. definitely recommend upgrading your room though. they are very small but it doesn't cost much more to upgrade. overall a very nice stay

The Mansfield is a wonderful boutique hotel excellently located on 44th in the heart of Manhattan. The recent upgrades to the fitness center are terrific and the club/lounge and parlor are warm and inviting. Highly recommend it.

And the bar is great - great soundsystem and christmas music Library was very cozy Breakfast was a nice touch the rooms were adorable. Small of course, but very modern

Hotel was great. Location fabulous. Staff Courteaous. Included a great Continetal Breakfast. Only gripes... bed was very, very soft and the "pettite" room was tiny. Spend the extra 40 bucks and get the next room size up.

Avoid this room due to loud street noise, small closet without ironing board/iron and broken window bench. I am a frequent traveler to New York, and this was my worst hotel stay. Poor value even when taking into consideration the discounted price.

We arrived very early in the day and they went out of their way to get us into a room. All the staff was friendly and helpful.

Overall, everything we right on with this room. For the location, service and quality, the price was really good. The only thing I would complain about is the elevator--it smells pretty bad and is really tiny, but they have a beautiful old staircase if you're in for some excercise.

Loved our stay. We have stayed there before and were upgraded to a suite that spacious and comfortable. It is in a great location to walk to the theatre , museums,and the park. It has an a nice gym and the continental breakfast hit the spot. I have no complaints.

Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Great bar for a late night drink, bartenders very friendly, looked up tourist info on their laptop for us. Also enjoyed the continetal breakfast...Our 3rd time staying here, will def stay here again.

Its located only a few blocks from times square, easy to walk to. Also close to many subway stations. The room was small but fine for 2 people. Overall the hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was ver nice and helpful. I would stay at the hotel again!

We loved our stay at the Mansfield. Two women in NYC for the weekend to see Mama Mia. Everything was within walking distance. Fabulous...we'll be back!

The Mansfield Hotel, NYC is a great choice for a short break in NYC - contemporary lobby and rooms, good continental beakfast and attentive staff. Rooms are small (we stayed in a chambre petit !) and the view was uninspiring (brick wall) but we spent so little time in the room it was not a problem. Would stay here again !

The Mansfield Hotel is very beautifully decorated and clean but the room I stayed in with one other person was not appropriate for 2 persons. There was barely enough space to walk around the bed which was described as a Queen, but I believe was only a Full size, the toilet/shower cubicle was so small that it was claustrophobic with the doors shut, there was no space for toiletries, there was no space to put suitcases, there was no space for hanging clothes (a mini bar was underneath the hangers so long clothes could not hang) and there were no robes as described in all the hotel literature. Staff was accommodating and friendly for the most part but got defensive when questions were asked and did not respond very promptly to requests. To be fair, there was a new trainee at the desk so that could have been part of the staff response issue. It is a great location and the 24 hour cappuccino/espresso library room was wonderful! I would only recommend the queen chambre room for one person.

this hotel room was one of the smallest rooms ever, but it was comfortable, clean, and quiet. I felt that the staff were interested in making sure our needs were met. They were courteous, friendly and very helpful. The location was close to subway stops and within walking distance to the theater district, and to shopping.

I'ts what I expected based off of the web site. I like they have Aveda products and a bar connected to the hotel. Not the best wine selection.

It's a very nice hotel with good rates (especially for NYC). My only complaint is that the minibar is in the closet so if you have anything like a suit to hang up, there isn't room.

lobby is drab but staff is friendly and efficient. gym is perfectly adequate. great location. loved the free breakfast. could use a full-length mirror in the bedroom.

Great hotel on a quiet street with a lot of history...and close to everything! Very small "petite chambre" room but so perfectly appointed that we didn't mind the lack of space. Very nicely renovated bathroom and large flat panel tv. For the location it is a great value for the money...we loved it and will definitely be back!

The hotel it's self was nice but very small room. Hotel staff are very friendly but some staff are quiet (maybe because they are told to be ?) Never had a problem being to hot at night even though temp was 28 degrees c just left air con all day until we got in. Breakfast is a great extra as it just sets you up for the day and its good to get away from the old english breakfast and have breakfast new york style. Great location for times square central park and empire state building roughly 10-20 miniuites walk from each.

Very clean, nice room. Hotel was within walking distance of Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and the Empire State Building. Would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future.

You get lots of convenience, charm and amenities in this petite boutique hotel, but not much space. You can't beat the location-- steps from all the offerings of mid-town. And the price was 1/3 less than similar hotels nearby.(I've stayed in at least 7 over the past few years.) The staff is pleasant and helpful, the hotel offers nice touches such as a cozy library with a working fireplace, continental breakfast in the bar/lounge area and a bright, roomy fitness room. The rooms are small- mine was teeny tiny. It was perfect for one person staying 1-2 nights, but there was no room in the closet to hang anything longer than a skirt. And there's no real space to get some work done if traveling for business. The rooms are comfortable and chic, but dark-- great for those who want to sleep in. It's the ideal place for someone who wants to do the town-- shop, see a show, dine, hop on the subway and enjoy the city. I wouldn't stay for more than a few days, and I wouldn't stay here for a romantic get away.

Remodeled suite room was lovely. Hotel staff very helpful and considerate. Went the extra mile to help me find my cell phone when I misplaced it - allowed me an extended late checkout w/no hassle when a meeting I was in ran late. Very convenient location. The rooms are small, but that is not a matter of much importance to me. The suite rooms are larger and just about perfect, but more expensive. Would plan to stay here again.

Hotel was very nice. The lobby is very nice. Great location to Times Square. Manhattan mall and Madison Square Garden are in walking distance. Rooms are small, so if you're there for business it's a great hotel.

We have stayed here several times and enjoyed it but, with the new renovations, it was better than ever. There is even a gym now! You can't beat the location, the service staff are always friendly and helpful. We always appreciate the complimentary breakfast and the cappuccino all day long! The intimate bar is a great place at night and only an elevator ride to your room. The artwork, fortunately, stayed after the renovations - we love the drawings! I just hope the place doesn't get too expensive for us to stay there in the future.

Although the rooms are small, the hotel has a charm about it which makes it worth staying at. It is centrally located to shopping, restaurants and points of interests. Definitely would stay there again.

staff was very helpful and friendly- ammenities were very nice- room was quite small but comfortable and quiet.

From the plasma TV to the ipod compatable alarm clock the care that has gone into updating this property is obvious. Tiny bathroom so I would hesitate recomending to families or couples but perfect for a quick getaway or business travel. Excellent location right off 5th and 2 blocks from Times Square.

This hotel was well below my expectations. Rooms were very small and very dark. Hallway floors were very old and worn. The two exceptional aspects of this hotel was the outstanding attitude of the hotel staff and its location.

I read several reviews about the Mansfield and agree with most of them. The rooms are small but very clean and modern looking. The free breakfast in the morning was great. The location was perfect and we saved a lot of money by being able to walk places. I did not find the staff overly friendly as stated in other emails, however maybe I'm used to that southern hospitatlity found in Louisiana.

centrally located, great service, clean, would stay there every time. our room was small but clean we paid for a king bed but got a single bed too small. they gave us a credit no questions asked.

The Mansfield is in a great location for visiting New York. It would have been useful to know the hotel was under construction before booking, or even when I called the hotel before the trip. Seems no one who stayed there was told about it. The drilling and jack hammering starts at 8am. For early risers, this would be fine. When the hotel is complete, it will be a nice hotel, with extremely small rooms. The value for the rooms is adequate at hotels.com price, but not the standard price listed on the hotel website.

I got to the hotel 3:00pm, so naturally I had to wait until the room service finished with the preparation of the room. It looks like if you go late to this hotel the room service will do half the job. The floor was not very clean, they did not have enough towels and the flush in the bathroom was not working.
